Group rides can be fun but here is a list of suggestions to make the ride even more enjoyable.

  • Arrive at the starting location with a full tank of gas. During longer rides the group will stop for gas on a regular interval (75 miles or less) or as needed.

  • Rather than dealing quarters on the ride bring your SunPass. Remember the SunPass Mini will not work on motorcycles but the small transponder will work.

  • Gloves are a good idea on long rides or cold days. It’s a good idea to have two pairs of gloves. One pair for summer rides to help absorb sweat and a heavy pair of gloves to keep your hands warm.

  • A good pair of ride boots not only protects you in an accident but makes a ride more comfortable.

  • Make sure you bring clear glasses if the ride will go after dark. It’s a good idea to bring an extra pair of glasses on longer rides.

  • Dress in layers rather than one heavy leather jacket. During the ride weather conditions can change quickly and being able to remove layers makes the rider more comfortable.

  • Bring rain gear or have a rain resistant jacket. A rainy day can make a long ride miserable if you cannot stay dry.

  • You should have a basic toolkit to make minor repairs. A Road Captain will have a toolkit but some bikes require special tools that the Road Captain will not have.

  • A bungee cord or net is a good thing to keep on the bike. Bikes don’t have much storage space and the passenger seat can be a good place to store that leather jacket when it get’s warm.
