"...the builder of the house has more honor than the house. For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God. Hebrews 3:3b,4.
Not to long ago my family and I visited the Biltmore Estate in AshevilleNorth Carolina. For those of you who have been there you know how aweinspiring this house is. George Washington Vanderbilt II finished construction around 1895 and to this day the estate is the largest privately owned home in the United States with over 250 rooms and175,000 square feet of space. That's a BIG house! As cool as this house is it was still built with mortal hands. God's house (His church) was built upon the rock of Jesus Christ.
Ever heard someone say "I invited my friend to church" or, another say "we ought to invite more people to church." The Bible tells us that Jesus is the builder of God's house, the church - not us. "He [Jesus] is the Son over His house - whose house we are" (Heb. 3:6). Jesus is overthe church and if you are a believer in Christ you are a part of His church. So far most of the readers are saying no duh!!
The point is simple, instead of inviting someone to church why not invite them to the One who is over the church. Invite someone to Jesus.I know this is a radical idea but think about it; I can go to the Biltmore Estate and never truly know the builder. Mr. Vanderbilt has been dead for many years. Jesus is alive! I can know Him personally.
Hebrews tell us the builder is more honorable than the house he built. We can have the best looking church in the world with the coolest children's department offering the greatest music. All that stuff canbe a part of doing church (and it's important), but what people really need is Jesus! People need to know the builder, then come and visit the house He built. You wan the church to grow, invite someone to meet Jesus.
Blessings,
Brad
