I am glad to be back from our travels – camps, Peru, and a visit to Bama.
Though we got back just in time to have our Rally and Small Group training, I am excited to get things rolling for a new church year. This year has so much potential, I can hardly stand it! Land sale, growing ministries, developing small groups, maturing believers – it is awesome!
One of the things that makes me feel back “in the groove” of things is preparing for Loving Our Neighbors. In case you haven’t heard, Loving Our Neighbors is a local mission experience where we take a few hours on a Saturday to show the love of Christ to our community. It is an attempt to fulfill the two most important things that Jesus spoke about – Loving God and Loving Our Neighbors.
This Saturday (August 22) is our 3rd round of Loving Our Neighbor events. We are looking forward to having a Free Car Wash. It is amazing what some water and soap can do when it combined with love and humility! When we finish a car, and people try to pay us, we say “No thank you , we are not receiving donations”. Then we stand back and watch. People can’t believe it. They want to give, but we refuse to accept. It is an awesome time to share about God’s undeserved grace! We also hope to do some ministry to people in the dog park, in waiting rooms at local hospitals, and possibly at a restaurant nearby. We really are taking time to love our neighbors.
Won’t you join us?! It is your chance to do missions without packing or getting out your passport. Parkridge is all about living the mission!
Don’t forget your towel!
