Evaluate and Refocus

Vacation, children, heat, rain, thunderstorms, activity, scheduling, finances, marriage, job, life… It takes all day just to live in these tumultuous days. This summer is a wonderful time to evaluate your priorities and refocus on what is really important. Our current teaching series, "Count The Cost", is aimed at helping all of us remember the significance of Christ’s sacrifice and of our following after Him. It is too easy to forget who He is and who we are in Him.

Busyness, even busyness in good things, is possibly the greatest enemy to the life that the Lord intends for you to enjoy. While the Christian life is certainly not a "bowl of cherries", it is the most fulfilling life that we can live this side of heaven. But living out all of the specifics requires that we put on our listening ears and deliberately remove all distraction to hearing the voice of God. Understanding the price He paid on our behalf is critical for us to be able to discern His leadership and desires for us. So…what can be let go of in your life so that you can really hear from God?

I want to challenge you with 3 positive steps toward a clear direction:

1. Pray for God’s leadership and direction every day.

2. Read the Bible with a view to hear the Lord’s specifics every day.

3. Spend time with other people who are trying to "listen" to the Lord.

"For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11

Grace and Peace,
Eddie
