Jesus Himself, near the end of His earthly life and ministry, prayed for His church by saying, “May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.” (John 17:23) What an encouragement to us, to unify the body and have that unity be a testimony to all those around us! Relationships are wonderful gifts given to us by God. As we read in the Bible, the most-intimate relationship is marriage between a husband and a wife. Unfortunately, relationships today are under more cultural and interpersonal pressure and stress than ever before in our history. Statistics indicate that fifty percent of marriages end in divorce (higher for second marriages), but it doesn’t have to be that way. Together, we can make a long-term difference for healthy relationships and marriages starting with yours!
Parkridge has begun the Fireproof series. Over a hundred people came to watch the movie in our auditorium Friday May 1st and now we have entered into a six week sermon series and Bible study on Sunday mornings. Pastor Brad is also teaching the same Bible study on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. If you have not seen the movie yet let me recommend that you and your spouse rent it or purchase it and spend an evening together watching it. Whether you’ve been married for twenty months or twenty years, this series can be a great way to enrich your marriage. In case you’re wondering about being single, divorced or widowed, please consider attending anyway; most of the lessons are about how to build Godly relationships and apply to all.
